Lots done and a new greenhouse !!

This week we were offered a free neighbouring greenhouse and all the contents. This turned out to be a treasure trove of useful tools, trays and a tin full of packets of seeds. Cassie, Dave Kate & Richard cleared the greenhouse and began to dismantle it.

Meanwhile, Eddie and Darius were busy preparing a growing bed with compost which we then covered with cardboard (thank you Halfords) and will be covered with recycled weed control fabric. The plan is to use this bed to grow squashes through the covering later in the year.

Hopefully, this method will help to rid the bed of any remaining bindweed and weeds over the course of the next year. We were also offered two compost bins which are full of lovely rich compost. Happy days!

Next week we hope to create a nice bed in the new greenhouse and to start clearing a second bed.
