Saving our Chalk Streams

Globally there are just 210 classified as Chalk Streams and of those 160 are found in England.

Here in Hampshire we can boast three; The Rivers Meon, Itchen and Test.

With the Rivers Meon and Itchen flowing within the Winchester City Council borders it is imperative to our countryside, nature and wildlife that these are not only maintained but improved.

Even though many things have been said about the pollution and the effect it’s having, we like many organizations are strongly opposed to the recent Government Statement that our rivers will not be healthy until 2063!

Our Councillors Malcolm Wallace and Danny Lee along with all our members are passionate about our environment and that action should be a priority.
