river walk and talk

“Along the two-mile walk beside the river from Shawford, led by Chalk Stream expert Andy Roberts, we were informed about the extensive work that has been and is being done to improve both the riverbanks and water quality. Joining Green Party members, Cllr. Liam Bailey-Morgan brought along a number of local residents, including Cllr. Sue Cook. It was a much-enjoyed evening, appreciated by all. Additionally, we were treated to a low-flying barn owl.”

All four of our Councillors attended the ‘Rights of the River’ Forum at the Quaker Meeting house in Winchester. Run by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, it raised the importance of protecting our rivers and giving legal rights so that future generations will enjoy and appreciate our natural surroundings.
