it’s your views which matter !
Upon hearing the breaking news story in the Hampshire Chronicle referring to the LibDem Council led deal with Southampton University to redevelop the River Park Leisure Centre falling through, within 24 hours, led by Lorraine Estelle, we arranged a Stall outside the Leisure Centre informing residents about the news and for their views on alternative uses for the site.
The hours spent there were most beneficial. Here’s a list of Here’s a list of all comments made on our post-it note ‘Have your Say’ board…
•Cafe with indoor seating with public toilets all dog friendly, also an indoor soft play area for youngsters
•Build a good quality dance studio for all ages with classes, surrounded by grass
•Lido – please, please,please
•Grass over to help flood protection and give a place for children to play
•Botanical Gardens
•Keep the car park for people to come and enjoy free activities in green space around perhaps a cafe to enjoy. Dog friendly
•An aquatic park
•Lido, cafe (like Thames Lido), climbing wall. Definitely leisure
•Knock down and replace with Grassland and children’s play area.
•Turn it into a Indoor Market. Independent businesses, stalls for food.
•Demolish the eyesore building ASAP. Grass over for community space
•Things for community especially young people. eg. Youth Club
•Massive soft play area for both children and adults
•Youth Club (x 2)
•Definitely demolition of existing building. How long before this happens? Certainly to be kept for community use and open space.
•Affordable housing
•Something that facilitates leisure activity
•A water park, thank you.
•So sad to see it empty for so long. Surely this must be turned into housing or business
•Back to a Park for the people of Winchester to enjoy
•Community Sports Centre
•More lighting…CCTV
•Youth Hostel
•Indoor Skate Park
•Lido for adults and children with outdoor gym

Again, this shows just how much our residents care about the future of our beautiful city, also a good panoramic view from all ages.
We’d like to thank all those who took participated and rest assured all these points will be raised with the relevant committees of our City Council.
