Initiated by Kate Needham and organised by Rich Turner and Jo Harmer, we held a live music and dance folk evening featuring local artists at the Hyde Tavern in Winchester.
Jo Harmer writes..
It was a great night, so much skill and talent in the Hyde Tavern’s quirky and wonderful Cellar Bar. Each of the acts deserved to have had double the length they were given. Ilana Pleas opened with a range of songs from her musical theatre background: her voice is a force to be reckoned with! Andy Staples was next, really fabulous, what a beautiful mellow voice. Lovely Dylan numbers
Louise Siddons and Linda Game played a mix of folk fiddle/keyboard and spoken word. Linda’s a top notch folk/orchestral musician, and with Louise calling, they run monthly inclusive ceilidhs in the Nutshell called Winqeilidh.
Cath Watkins and Nic Bradford (Southampton-based) played a set of fiddle/ guitar tunes and song. Jazz and blues influences over a core of local Hampshire folk material. Top of the bill were Provincials: Polly and Seb were just astonishing.
A very big thank you to the Hyde Tavern for hosting the evening free of charge.
